PAY PARITY SALARY INCREASES! For Unit 9, Supervisory and Managerial PECG-Represented Employees
Last July 1, 2005, all PECG-represented employees received salary increases! The amounts varied based on the salary levels for each class.
The pay raises resulted from the Unit 9 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) negotiated by PECG and the Department of Personnel Administration (DPA) in 2003. It provides that the salary for Bargaining Unit 9 employees will be increased over a four-year period until they are equal to salaries paid to engineering and related employees in California’s largest cities and counties, based on an annual salary survey conducted and updated by DPA and PECG.
Last year’s salary survey showed lags ranging from 16% at the entry level to over 30% for Seniors and above. The agreement provides that 25% of the lag would be eliminated through pay raises on July 1, 2005. This resulted in pay raises ranging from 4.07% to 7.7%, effective July 1, 2005. Each year thereafter, the salary survey will be updated and salaries will be increased until the lag is entirely eliminated on July 1, 2008.
The MOU only covers employees in Bargaining Unit 9. However, PECG’s Supervisory Meet and Confer Team met repeatedly with DPA. As a result, DPA agreed to increase salaries for PECG-represented supervisory and managerial employees as well, effective July 1, 2005. In most cases, the increase was 7.7%.
Salary increases for July 2006 are currently being determined and should be announced in the near future!
