Dear PECG
DSA Colleagues:
Understandably, many of you are upset and concerned by the
introduction of SB 1227 (Runner), legislation that
essentially calls for the elimination of the Division of
State Architect (DSA) by transferring school
construction plan review and oversight from DSA to local
building departments.
PECG is
very much aware of the bill. We've expressed our
opposition to SB 1227 to the author and have been working
since its introduction to defeat this legislation. SB
1227 is insulting to your good work and proposes an
alternative that would greatly reduce the safety of school
construction in our state.
You can
count on this, PECG will do everything in its power to kill
the bill, maintain the Field Act, and retain the important
role each of you play in building safe schools in
California.
